Homecoming Week

We will celebrate Rivercrest Homecoming on September 10th. In conjunction with the Powder Puff game, a bonfire, hot dog supper, and small pep rally will be held Thursday night at the football field. On Friday, we will have our traditional pep rally in the high school gym. This year’s Homecoming Spirit Week theme is Psychodelic 70′s. Each day during spirit week will have a different dress-up theme.

Monday-Labor Day Holiday (no school)
Tuesday-Colorful Tye-Dye Day
Wednesday-Radical Twin Day
Thursday-Groovy-up Your Camo Day
Friday-BLUE Out Day showing your spirit by wearing Blue Rebel attire

First Two Weeks

Our first two weeks of school were fantastic! We did many activities which helped us get to know each other. We also worked hard on learning and following rules and procedures. We have been working on Daily Five which consists of workstations where students will work while I am working with small groups.
Some other things we’ve been working on are: reviewing vowel sounds, learning new vocabulary words, studying addition and subtraction facts, doing AR testing, doing our TPRI testing, enjoying PE, music, library, and computer time, learning about our community, working on addition and subtraction strategies, writing in our journals, and getting reacquainted with our friends and making new friends.
Sharing our “Me Bags” was awesome! Each one of us had a chance to share the five items in our bag. Mrs. Stockton was so proud of the terrific job we all did when we shared. We even wrote a story about our “Me Bags” and Mrs. Stockton took our picture. Second grade is truly the best!!

Back to School Night

We had a wonderful turnout for “Back to School Night”. I really enjoyed meeting my new students and their families. I was also pleased to see many of my students from previous years. Thanks for all the smiles and hugs. I am looking forward to a wonderful and exciting year.

“Back to School Night”

I hope everyone has had a safe and fun summer. I am looking forward to seeing all of you at our “Back to School Night” on Thursday, August 19th from 5:30-7:00.
