This week we are participating in the national Red Ribbon Week campaign. On Monday we signed pledges to be drug-free (and not just for 4th grade– for the rest of our lives!), and some jr. high students came over and told us all about Red Ribbon Week and what it means to be drug-free. We all wore red, got red ribbons and bracelets to wear, and signed our pledges (which will be made into a paper chain). Here’s a list of the Red Ribbon Week activities…
Monday: Wear Red Day
Tuesday: Give Drugs the Boot– wear your cowboy boots or boots of any kind
Wednesday: Shade Out Drugs– wear your favorite sunshades to school; Jr. High Student Council will present an anti-drug skit for us in our cafetorium

Friday: Drugs are Scary or Rebel Against Drugs– wear your Halloween costume or your favorite Rebel shirt

In Reading class, we’re reading the book Tales of a 4th Grade Nothing. We learned that Peter’s father is in the advertising business and that he makes commercials. In class, we made our own “Juicy-o” commercials in groups and voted on the BEST one. The following commercial won… Congratulations Julia, Vince, Evan, and Michaela (and don’t worry– Julia’s head is fine!) :)
