We are currently reading Tales of a 4th Grade Nothing.  In the book, Peter’s father work at an advertising agency and creates commercials for “Juicy-O.”  Our class broke into groups and created our own commercials for drinks that we invented ourselves. Maylee, Mychaela, and Layna competed in our Rivercrest Elementary Star Search Finals on Friday, April 16th.  This is a slideshow of their pictures and a short video of each of them performing.  Good job, Girls.  I am so proud of each of you :)

April 19-23

Next week we will take our TAKS Math and Reading tests.  We are working VERY hard this week in preparation.  Students will not have a Spelling list to study, but they do have 3 Math study sheets this week.  Tests will be given over each one on Friday.

The “Rock Solid Character” team will be here on Friday with their rock-climbing wall.  Students MUST have permission slips signed to participate… we can’t wait!!!

Our A.R. Popcorn Party will be NEXT Thursday (after our TAKS tests are finished).  Students should have met their 5th 6 weeks AR goals in order to attend.

Next Friday, April 30th, our entire class will travel to the A.M. Aikin Archives at Paris Junior College because we ALL earned our A.M. Aikin Certificates!  :)  Lunch at CiCi’s Pizza will be provided by the library activity fund.

Last week of the 5th 6 Weeks!  All A.R. points for this 6-weeks must be completed by Friday…

We will be practice TAKS-testing Wednesday and Thursday of this week.  Our “real” tests are:  Math–April 27; Reading– April 28.

Rivercrest Elementary Star Search Finals:  THIS Friday, April 16.  3rd-5th grades at 9:00 AM; Kindergarten-2nd grade at 1:00 PM.  Good luck to “our” girls– Maylee, Layna, and Mychaela!!!

The Rivercrest Education Foundation Banquet is THIS Saturday, April 17th at 6:00 PM.  See Mrs. Murray, Mrs. Purviance, or Mr. Littlejohn if you need tickets ($25 each).  Child care for school-aged children is provided.

… is the last day for our Book Fair.  Our class’s time to shop the Book Fair was on Monday, but if they bring money on Friday they will be allowed to purchase items that day.  Parents/ grandparents are invited to come shop with students.  Just sign in at the office and ask Mrs. Ellis to call for your child, and I will send him/ her to meet you in the library.

… our G/T students will be presenting a “Famous Artists Museum”.  They have memorized a 1-minute speech and will present their speech dressed as their famous artist that they have been researching.  Everyone is invited to come and see all their hard work presented!

Congratulations to these students from our class who made the finals in Rivercrest Elementary Star Search:  Layna, Maylee, and Mychaela.  Congratulations, Girls, and good luck :)  Star Search finals will be held on April 16 at the Jr. High Auditorium.

Rivercrest High School prom is this Saturday, April 10.

Good luck to Coach Stansell’s Lady Rebel Softball team… they have 2 big games this week– they play Prairiland here on Tuesday and at DeKalb on Friday.  Go Lady Rebels!!!

5th grade TAKS tests this week:  Tuesday– Math, Wednesday and Thursday– Reading.  Good luck, 5th grade!

Please remember to return your Spring Pictures of the money to pay for them by Friday, April 16.  Thank you to those who have already returned them!
