Welcome to my family

I am married to my high school sweetheart, John Purviance. We married in 1994 after we both graduated from college. John attended Paris Junior College and then graduated from Texas A & M University – College Station. Whoop! He is an Aggie through and through….everything we have is maroon! Furniture, cars, you name — all maroon!

John managed Cross Arrow Ranch in the Cuthand area for 14 years. He loved his job at the ranch. However, a few years ago another job presented itself and this was a job John didn’t feel like he could turn down. He felt called to become a minister. He became the pastor of Cuthand United Methodist Church in 2003. Another job with the USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service also was offered to him and he took that, also….so we left Cross Arrow Ranch. We built our own house in 2007 in the Rosalie community.

We have been blessed with two great children. Our daughter, Mayzie, is 12 years old and is a 7th grader at Rivercrest Junior High. She enjoys swimming, playing sports, and art. Our son, Evan, is 8 years old and is a 2nd grader at Rivercrest Elementary. Evan likes to hunt, fish, and play video games.

Hello, my name is Kristi Purviance. I am the math interventionist and technology teacher at Rivercrest Elementary.

I went to Bogata Elementary and Junior High, then graduated from Rivercrest High School. I then attended Paris Junior College and graduated from East Texas State University with a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education.

I began my teaching career at Clarksville Elementary as a second grade special education teacher. The next year, I got to come “home” to Bogata Elementary as a fourth grade teacher. I taught fourth grade for 13 years at Bogata/Rivercrest Elementary. Last year, I was looking for a change. I wanted a new challenge. Thanks to my administrators and the school board, I got the opportunity to try something new. I am now the math interventionist and the elementary technology teacher. I love my new job. I get to work with students from kindergarten through fifth grades. I also get to teach two of my favorite subjects — math and technology.
