Meet the Teacher Thursday Night, Aug. 19

All students and their guardians are invited to bring your school supplies (labeled with your name) to Rivercrest Elementary on Thursday, August 19 from 5:30-7:00.  Students can meet their new teachers, unload school supplies, and tour the school.  At 7:30 everyone is invited to the football field for “Meet the Rebel,” where all our athletes, band members, and cheerleaders will be introduced.

Chess & Powerpoints

Chess is a great game–learned and studied world-wide for many years. I have included a link to chesskids. Here students can learn to play chess, make moves, and study strategies. We’ll be exploring this with our 2nd & 3rd graders this week. 4th & 5th graders will be finishing their powerpoint slideshows about themselves.

Web Quest on Texas

We are finishing our unit/study on using the internet. We’ve researched maps, images, videos, and web info. We’ve learned some cool shortcut tricks to make our searching quicker. This week we are participating in an online web quest about Texas. The 1st student to finish and get the most answers correct will win a prize from me! Good luck 4th & 5th graders on your quest for Texas knowledge:)
