As we near the end of the 2011-2012 school year, I wanted to let you know what we have coming up in the next few weeks.
Friday, May 11- UIL Academics field trip for grades 2-5 to Texarkana
Tuesday, May 15 – A. M. Aiken Archives field trip for the ones who had never gone.
Wednesday, May 16- 4th & 5th grade A.M. Aiken field trip to the Monticello coal mines.
Friday, May 18- AR bounce party at school during PE times.
Thursday May 24- K & 1st music and awards @8:30 in cafeteria.
9:30 2nd & 3rd music and awards in cafeteria.
EARLY RELEASE @ 1:00

Friday, May 25- 4th & 5th grade music and awards in cafeteria @8:30.

LAST DAY OF SCHOOL!!!!!

It is also nearly time to take our first TAKS test of this year! We will take the Writing TAKs test on Tuesday, March 1. We have been working very hard to prepare for this test.

The annual 4th Grade Invention Convention is set for Friday, February 4 beginning @ 1:00 in the cafetorium. Parents are invited to come by and view all the inventions that have been created by our very talented students.

Friday, September 17 we will have a Constitution Play in the cafetorium @ 2:00. It is being presented by the 5th grade GT.

Next Tuesday, September 21 is picture day!!

It has been a fast and furious week and a half since we came back to school.  I hope you had a wonderful, fun-filled summer and are ready to have a “Monstrous” year.  There are many new and exciting things going on this year.  We have a few new faces on campus, like Mr. Dickey.  He will be our principal and has already visited our room a couple of times.

Coming up next week we have a few things going on:

Homecoming week will be going on all next week and the theme is Psychodelic 70′s. Each day will have a different dress-up theme.

Monday- Labor Day (no school!!)

Tuesday- Colorful tye-dye day

Wednesday- Radical twin day

Thursday- Groovy up your camo day.  There will also be a Powder Puff game, bonfire, hot dog supper and small pep rally Thursday night at the football field.

Friday- Blue out day (show your Rebel spirit by wearing Blue Rebel attire).  The traditional Homecoming Pep Rally will be held Friday afternoon in the gym and the game will be against Detroit, with the Homecoming ceremony beginning around 7:00 and the game kicking off at 7:30.  Hope to see you at the Swamp!!
