LISTENING AND FOLLOWING DIRECTIONS!!!-These are very important skills. These skills will be used by your child for the rest of his/her life, in school and out. Watch your child’s papers to see how well he/she is listening and following directions.

We went to the library today. Every student in kindergarten checked out 2 books today. Usually we will go to the library on Monday and the students will get 4 books. All books need to be returned on FRIDAYS throughout the year.

I have sent home an information sheet in your child’s folder. Please read it. Attached to it is a sheet to write down books as you read them to your child. Please keep this sheet at HOME until it is filled. You can then return it to school for a new sheet. I will keep up with your child’s completed sheets. Your child will have to have read100 books by May in order to receive a library award at the end of school. PLEASE help your child by reading each night.

If you child has not purchased headphones, it is a good idea to do so soon. We will be going to the computer lab and also using them in the classroom.

School will be closed on Monday, September 6th in observance of Labor Day. Have a SAFE weekend!

We will celebrate Rivercrest Homecoming on Sept. 10. In conjunction with the Powder Puff game, a bonfire, hot dog supper and small pep rally will be held Thursday night at the football field. On Friday, we will have our traditional pep rally in the high school gym. This year’s Homecoming Spirit Week theme is Psychodelic 70′s. Each day during spirit week will have a different dress-up theme.

We’ve studied red, blue, yellow, and green.  Today we discovered that yellow and blue mixed together makes green!  We mixed colors and ate our YUMMY green snacks.

Wow, what a day! Everyone came smiling and still had smiles on their faces at the end of the day. Thanks to the parents for trusting me with your precious children. They are GREAT! I’m looking forward to a GREAT year.
